Many of us have a love/hate relationship with salt. It is used all over the world to season foods and has been for hundreds of years, as it enhances the flavor of foods and tickles our taste buds. The food industry research firm Technomic recently conducted a study recently and the results are discussed in an article by Mark Brandau on the Nation's Restaurant News website.
According to the article, "Technomic’s MenuMonitor, which analyzes more than 2,000 chains, emerging concepts and independent restaurants, reported that mentions of salt on menus have increased 144 percent over the past five years."
